Historic Chinatown Alley - Dragon Parade

Red Bluff’s Historic Chinatown hosted an annual Chinese New Year celebration similar to this video circa 1920 in sister city Marysville, CA

February 4, 2024 ~ Chinese Dragon Parade & Festival: Grand Finale

For only the second time in California history a Chinese Dragon will return to Red Bluff’s Historic Chinatown. In 1908, the great pioneer Wong Foey commissioned “Moo Lung”, the most famous Chinese Dragon in the United States to participate in the July 4th parade. Thereafter, Moo Lung made her way to New York City by 1911. After 116 years, the 5 original families of Historic Chinatown Alley were called by the Helen and Joe Chew Foundation to return to Red Bluff and celebrated the installation of the “Historic Chinatown Alley” for Year of the Dragon in honor of the ancestors. This outdoor celebration is one historic moment you should not miss!
