Dream it.

It all begins with a education. Maybe you want to go to college. Maybe you’re not sure, and maybe something much more. Whatever it is, the way you can make a difference is through an education. HJC welcomes donations at any time in support of its scholarship program. You can donate a one-time gift or a multi-year pledge.

Chew Award

The Chew Award was founded in 2021 by the Helen and Joe Chew Memorial Foundation. The Chew Award honors Low-Income or Minority high school students who excel in the classroom and community and for their excellence in various categories including: Asian Studies, Business & Finance, Entrepreneurship, Education, Healthcare & Science, and Social Justice.

The recipients are selected to receive a one-time grant to fund their first year of college education or to fund a community service effort that tackles a social issue.

Once selected, recipients will be celebrated in Asian tradition and will become part of growing the future of our unique community.  The Chew Awards program is to promote college education for students as they transition from high school, to college, to graduate school, and into their careers.

The purpose of the Chew Scholarship, is to recognize and honor low-income and minority students who reside in Red Bluff and have demonstrated academic excellence, a concern for their community, as well as a desire to continue their post-secondary education.
